| Overview: | Bound to a wheelchair, life has been difficult for poor Yasu [HIROHITO HONDA from BATTLE ROYALE]. His mother has vanished, his father and brother think he's crazy, and his sister shelters him from the outside world. But Yasu has yet to experience the true meaning of suffering, until new relatives mysteriously arrive and move in.
Chiyo, a senile old woman, and Yuki, her mute and timid grand-daughter are left homeless after a horrific crime brutally wipes out the family they're staying with. Yasu's father offers to let them stay with the family until they find a home of their own. The seemingly harmless pair only reveal their true and sadistic agenda after the demented duo is left home alone with the helpless Yasu.
Labeled “The Japanese Chainsaw Massacre” (minus the chainsaws) by fans, director SHUGO FUJII has fashioned a stylishly mysterious horror film with sequences that pay flattering homage to the works of directors BRIAN DE PALMA and ALFRED HITCHCOCK, while still remaining true to director Shugo's roots in Japanese horror. Filled with moments of sheer terror, LIVING HELL joins the ranks right along side THE RING and JU-ON as another modern masterpiece of Asian horror.
