| Plot: | A straightlaced Mainland policewoman and her cousin join a freewheeling Hong Kong counterpart on a mission to extradite a criminal (comedian Chow, exhibiting much menace here). A blend of cultural satire and light comedy that spawned three sequels.

| Overview: | Cheng Shih-nan (Carol Cheng) and her cousin Hsiou-sheng (Alfred Cheung) are two inspectors from mainland China, assigned to Hong Kong to escort a prisoner (Michael Chow) back with them. When they arrive in Hong Kong, they are assisted by a local inspector named Wu Wei-kuo (Tony Leung). But when the prisoner manages to escape, it forces Shih-nan and her brother, both die-hard communists, to stay longer in a city where capitalism is the rule. Will two cultures from opposite sides be able to come together to capture one criminal?
This story chronicles the relationship between a female police officer from mainland China and a Hong Kong police inspector as they work difficult drug smuggling cases. As the story unfolds, we follow the unlikely pair, watching as their relationship changes from mutual dislike and untrust to mutual understanding, appreciation, and cooperation.
