"Fist From Shaolin" is a highly charged martial arts epic telling the story of how Wong Fei Hung went to the aid of his countrymen to save them being shipped overseas to Malaysia to be sold as slaves.
Overview:
Mainland China has produced many classic kung fu movies, including the Shaolin Temple" trilogy (starring Jet Li) and the superb "South Shaolin Master". "Fist From Shaolin" was inspired after the success of Tsui Hark's re-working the story of legendary kung fu master Wong Fei Hung in the "Once Upon A Time In China" series. Producer Wong Yi Shan put together an unknown cast of highly skilled martial artists that could deliver the level of action that fans had now been accustomed to. The result is a highly charged martial arts epic telling the story of how Wong Fei Hung went to the aid of his countrymen to save them being shipped overseas to Malaysia to be sold as slaves.
This film will come as a great relief for those who like to see the action at a realistic skilled pace rather than speeded up action, quick cut editing, and wire work that are the hallmarks of many of the new wave genre.
